In Chess what's key?

1) knowing the board,

2) knowing the rules,

3) having a strategy,

4) looking ahead of your opponents play to see his strengths and weaknesses,

5) never underestimating your opponent,

6) establishing security.

Use Chess to evaluate your life on a continual basis. There are very few things in life that differ from the game. It should become the base of who you are and what you become.

Another great tool for ensuring your success is reasearch. We all have ideas that come to us and appear flawless. These ideas could have evolved provided you knew the laws or rules governing them. The point is that you won't know all the restrictions or laws on everything, but there's someone that does. Bounce your ideas off people you know, people you respect. More times than not, you'll pick up a piece of information that will aid you down the line.

Is their anyone else that has achieved accomplishments similar to the goals you have set for yourself? Have you talked to them? Why not? They will be able to educate you on the mistakes they made on their way to the top. More importantly they will be able to warn you of pitfalls and advise you on the things they did to make their journey successful. You will find that these people are eager to help a young man in his pursuits. These are the successes you will come to find when communicating your thoughts and ideas with leaders in the field.

Ideas are great. They let us know that there are elements out there we can still own. They are a begining, the steps to follow are the ones that will separate you from the masses. Taking the steps to bring your ideas to life are the hard ones; grinding into all hours of the night to reach your goal for the day.
