Doing the right thing

Never in life is it a positive thing to settle for something less than you feel you deserve. Resentment builds, and you find yourself trapped and unhappy. In most cases you won't even know why. Getting what you truly want in life is a struggle, and that is why the option of settling has become more common. People aren't sure what they really want or have no idea how to fulfill their dreams, so they settle for what is available.

I'll be the first to admit that I had suffered from this one. The main reason was because I never really knew what I wanted, so I was settling in every aspect of my life. The only good thing was that I knew it. I just couldn't seem to find what would give my life purpose. Then I read the book I Could do Anything, if I Only Knew What it Was, and it changed my life. I had only read 10 pages when I realized I had been hiding from all my dreams. I had created huge detours to the life I really wanted instead of moving down the direct path to my own happiness. Now everyday is a gift. Everyday I find myself wondering why I never did this earlier. This one book opened the door to the rest of my life, and I wasn't going to waste another minute.

Simple Pleasures:

What in life makes you happy? It doesn't need to cost or involve money or people. Is it having a cold beer in silence away from chaos? Polishing your vehicle? Building a bench for your house? Spending time in a park?

The point behind all of this is to find what makes you happy and complete. Relationships should be an extension of your love for life, not your life. Each person in a relationship has a responsibility to bring something to the relationship. It's the simple pleasures in life that bring happiness. Huge blasts of happiness tend to fade just as quickly as they were acquired. Concentrate on the little things that give your life purpose and meaning. They will be the basis of an even greater happiness in the future.
